The Sueño keeps you low, level and unhurried. A bedroom shouldn't try to impress anyone — least of all you, at seven in the morning. It should just be kind.

We keep the bed close to the floor. It's the oldest trick in the calmest hotel rooms: drop the horizon and the whole room exhales. The Reposo does it with a wide walnut surround that holds a lamp, a book and a glass of water, so nothing important is ever more than an arm's reach into the dark.

Soften the edges from there. An Ola at the foot of the bed for the clothes that don't earn a hanger. A Barro within reach for the 2am glass. A Banco by the door where tomorrow's coat waits. None of it loud, all of it useful.

The headboard comes off and changes colour when you're ready for a different room — which, if we've done our job, won't be for a very long time. A Sueño is the one room you should be allowed to make entirely for yourself.
